TomatoFare® Chef's Challenge at White Heron Cellars

Fourth Annual TomatoFare® Chef's Challenge at White Heron Cellars in

Culinary professionals and aspiring chefs from across Washington State, Oregon and Idaho are invited to participate in the Fourth Annual TomatoFare® Chef’s Challenge, Labor Day Sunday Sept 6 at White Heron Cellars in Trinidad, WA. above Crescent Bar.

The focus of the challenge is on Grant, Douglas, Chelan, Kittitas & Yakima County’s bountiful Heirloom Tomatoes and agricultural products. The chefs will prepare their favorite recipes for the TomatoFare® guests, growers and participants to sample. White Heron Cellars superb wines will be on hand to pair with the chef’s exquisite culinary creations.

Guests, growers and participants will watch the challenge unfold and sample the culinary offerings of the participating chefs. During the event’s tasting, Phyllis and Cameron Fries, owners and operators of White Cellars Winery, will be on-hand to recommend wine pairings with the various food samplings.

The offerings will be judged by TomatoFare® guests, growers and participants on the basis of flavor, presentation and originality. The chefs with the highest scores will be declared the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners.

Guests, growers and participants will enjoy excellent wines, special tastings by attending chefs, and experience up to 100 different varieties of heirloom tomatoes. General admission tickets for the 2009 TomatoFare® are $20 in advance; $25 on the day of the event and will be limited to 300 guests to ensure a quality experience for all. Early ticket purchase is recommended since the event is expected to sell out. Children under the age of 12 with attending parent are admitted free-of-charge.
